Obsessed: it's mary ruffle

Mary Ruffle

I love this blog. I guess it's a blog. I view it as Cliff's notes to the best that is out there on the blogs. Photography-wise, at least. And I like that it's not a lot of wedding stuff. I look at a lot of wedding stuff. It behooves me to look at non-wedding stuff - and more than just from time to time.

Obsessed: Gilmore Girls

I love Gilmore Girls. The quick wits, quick quips, constant pop culture references, pretty fabulous clothes - what's not to love, really? Between my sister and I, we have every season on DVD (I guess at some point we'll need to upgrade that to Blu-Ray, huh?). I schedule my trips on the treadmill around the reruns on ABC Family. I will watch anything with Lauren Graham (see: Evan Almighty, Parenthood) or Alexis Bledel (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants I and II). I am on team Jess and team Luke. I think they ended the series very nicely, despite the terrible decision to marry Lorelai and Christopher. I want to be Lorelai when I grow up.

Obsessed: Zingerman's

Have I told you yet how much I love food? I love to eat, and I love to give food as gifts too.

Zingerman's

Deli. Bakery. Creamery. Candy maker. Collector and distributor of delicious food finds from all over the world. This is Zingerman's. Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, this company has built quite the reputation (and mail order business) for itself. I order the Chocolate
Cherry Sourdough a few times a year, just because it's that good. I order the Pecan Cranberry Sourdough for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. I send food as gifts to my family and friends on special occasions, and always to newly minted parents who haven't the time to cook. You should order some food too - maybe the brownies. Or the Virginia peanuts. Or some olive oil... or balsamic vinegar. Or some bacon...

Obsessed: 1973 Buick Riviera

I am a sucker for an old muscle car. I own one, or at least I think I do. My dad got it for me when I was 16, and he swears someone is still storing it for me, in a field somewhere in Virginia. It's probably filled with mice and bugs right now. But when I win the lottery, or otherwise hit the big time, I will restore it to mint condition. It did run for a while, in high school. A while being about 2 months. It's loud, hot, fast and big. Everything I love in a car.

PS - mine is burgundy :)

Obsessed: Chuck Taylors

A lot of people like and wear Chucks. My husband is not one of them. He calls them "little kid shoes." I call his all-white New Balances "old man shoes." I own just one pair. They are custom (RED) ones. Which I am sure means that about 10 cents went to the (RED) cause, but oh well. Since they were my first pair, I went pretty classic with a lot of black & white, but the insides are red, as is the top lace grommet. I love them. They need to be washed. My friend Wendy took this picture with some swank app on her iPhone.

Know me: Know my foster dog

Prince is my foster dog. He is a 6 year old red Miniature Pinscher, weighing in at about 6 pounds. We have been fostering him since November, 2009. He has dry eye. This infection has caused very limited sight in his left eye and next to zero sight in his right eye. To care for this he simply requires eye drops and gel a few times a day, which he is pretty good about taking. We are looking for a home for him that will have someone at home most of the time, and without small children. He is a smart dog, but skittish. We think he was kept in a cage most of his life and never learned how to be a dog. He still plays with you by gnawing on you like a puppy would. He loves to be in your lap, asleep. He even has his own Facebook page!

These lovely photos were taken by a britton photography - I love her too!

Know Me: Know my dogs

Larry and I are owned by two dogs: Nikki & Tammy

Nikki is a Miniature Pinscher. She will be 11 in August, 2010. We rescued her in September 2005 from
IMPS. She was at our wedding, but not in our wedding. She used to be more than a little aggressive, particularly towards strangers. But she has mellowed out in her old age.

Tammy is a long-haired miniature Dachshund. She will be 5 in October, 2010. We volunteered to foster her for Lost Dog and Cat Rescue in November 2007, and after having her at home for about an hour Larry asked me "can we keep her?" Tammy is conniving. If she wants to be in your lap, and Nikki is there already, she will squeak Nikki's favorite ball, and when Nikki goes running for the ball, Tammy hops into your lap, happy as a clam.
